News: 12-year-old boy killed, teen seriously injured after Shawnee Co. crash

SHAWNEE COUNTY, KS – A boy was killed and a teenager suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash in Shawnee County early Sunday morning.

According to KSHB, the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. near the 8300 block of Southeast Ratner Road.

A 19-year-old driver was headed southbound when they veered off the roadway into a ditch, causing the vehicle to roll over multiple times.

A 12-year-old Olathe boy was in the front passenger seat and was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teen was rushed to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
