News: 1 killed, 7 injured in Kansas City rollover crash on SB I-435 ramp
KANSAS CITY, KS – One person was killed and seven others injured in a single-vehicle, rollover crash on the SB I-435 ramp to EB I-70 on Sunday.
Wilfredo Lopez Cartagena, 35, was traveling too fast for a curve in an SUV on the exit ramp when he lost control of the vehicle, according to KSN. The SUV rolled multiple times.
Cartagena, of Kansas City, was pronounced dead at the crash scene.
Seven passengers were transported to various local hospitals for serious injuries. The injured passengers included three children, ages 2, 10, and 15, and four adults ranging in ages from 20 to 30.
Six people were ejected from the vehicle, but it is unclear which six or if the driver was one of them.
Police report two people were wearing seat belts.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
