News: Liberty woman fatally struck by SUV in Clay Co.
CLAY CO., MO – A 38-year-old Liberty woman was fatally hit by an SUV as she was attempting to cross southbound I-35 at US 69 yesterday night, Fox 4 reports.
A Clay County Sheriff’s deputy came across the scene by happenstance shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, and arrived to find woman who was searching the roadway to determine what she had hit with her GMC Arcadia.
The deputy found the pedestrian in the median. The woman was declared dead at the scene, and has subsequently been identified as Bernice Rodriguez.
The roadway was closed for some time as CCSO and the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated the scene. It is unclear whether the Arcadia’s driver will face any charges.
