News: Driver asleep at the wheel injures self and 1 other in crash
KANSAS CITY, MO – A driver and occupant were injured in a car crash on I-49 in the southern end of the city Saturday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Lillian A. Campbell, 28, was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt southbound on the interstate near mile marker 170. She fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to travel off the left side of the roadway into a ditch.
The impact caused debris to strike two other vehicles that were traveling northbound on the interstate.
Campbell and an occupant in her vehicle, Ryan I. Cariel, 33, both sustained minor injuries in the crash and were transported to Research Medical Center.
