News: Man arrested after stealing car with two young children inside

LEE’S SUMMIT, MO – A man was arrested after stealing a vehicle with two children inside from a Lee’s Summit residence on Monday.

According to KMCB, 41-year-old Mitchell S. Green entered the running vehicle, a Ford Edge, as the owner ran inside her home for a brief period. Two children under the age of four were in the car as Green drove off with it.

The woman called the police and an amber alert was initiated in the Independence area. Police were able to locate and stop the vehicle near I-70 and Little Blue Parkway.

Green was arrested on felony charges including child kidnapping and tampering with a motor vehicle. It isn’t clear whether anyone had been injured in the incident.
