News: 1 killed in overnight I-70 car crash vs. semi

CALLAWAY COUNTY, MO – An 18-year-old man was killed in a crash on I-70 westbound near Columbia early Friday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened as a driver in a semi-truck was stopped in the right lane due to a previous crash on the roadway.  A second driver in a Nissan Altima was unable to stop due to road conditions, lost control of his vehicle, and slammed into the semi.

The man driving the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver in the semi was uninjured.
