News: Woman hit and killed by train in Independence

KANSAS CITY, MO – A woman died after she was struck by a train in Independence on Tuesday evening, reports KSHB.

The woman, Rachel Vanvelsan, 36, was hit near east 15th Street south and south Appleton Avenue.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
