News: Woman to be sentenced for killing pedestrian in drunken street race

KANSAS CITY, MO – The driver responsible for the death of a pedestrian two years ago in Kansas City pleaded guilty to charges this past week.

According to KSHB, Shabazz Frencher pleaded guilty to two felonies in connection to a June 2020 incident in which she struck a pedestrian while racing down Main Street.

23-year-old Zahara Kathawalla was crossing Main Street when she was fatally struck.

Frencher entered guilty pleas for driving while intoxicated, causing the death of another, and leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death on Friday. She will be formally sentenced on June 10 and will face up to 22 years in prison.
