News Update: Victims identified in fiery I-70 fatal semi-truck crash

KANSAS CITY, MO – A woman died and two others were injured after a collision involving semi-trucks near the Legends on Friday.

According to FOX4, 60-year-old Sherrie Wheeler of Parkville died in the multi-vehicle crash on I-70 westbound after a chain reaction caused a large fire on the interstate.

35-year-old Cornelius Banks was driving a pickup when he side-swiped a tractor-trailer. The driver of the semi, Guy Johnson, 36, was unable to maintain control after the impact and crashed into a barrier wall and flipped into the westbound lanes of the interstate.

Wheeler was driving a separate tractor-trailer when she struck the semi. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnson was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Banks suffered minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

Authorities are investigating to determine whether charges will be warranted in the fatal crash.
