News: Woman critically injured in Blue Springs house fire, arson suspected

KANSAS CITY, MO – A woman suffered critical injuries after a duplex house fire in Blue Springs early Monday morning.

According to KSHB, the fire started around 2:30 a.m. in the area of US-40 and Southwest 37th Street. Firefighters rescued one woman from the second floor of the burning unit.

She was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition.

A man was able to exit the house and was treated for injuries on the scene.

Central Jackson County Fire Chief Chip Portz said the origin of the fire was suspicious and the investigation is being treated as a crime scene.
