News: 15 people injured, including 9 children after apartment fire
KANSAS CITY, MO – Several people were hospitalized following an apartment complex fire in Kansas City early Friday morning.
According to KSHB, the fire broke out around 12:30 a.m. on East 42nd Street near Pittman Road. The second and third floors were engulfed in flames.
Fire crews rescued several residents from the burning building using ladders. Nine children and six adults were taken to four area hospitals with injuries.
Five adults suffered serious injuries and two children are in critical condition.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation. One person was arrested after going back into the building and barricading themselves inside.
