News: Man and 7-year-old hurt in two-vehicle crash on I-470 SB

KANSAS CITY, MO – A man and young child both suffered injuries following a collision on I-470 Thursday evening.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened as 68-year-old Ricky M. Pock, of Emporia attempted to change lanes on the interstate while heading south in a Toyota RAV4.

He struck a Toyota Highlander, driven by Frederick N. Karumbi, 40 of Kansas City, who was also traveling southbound. The vehicle went off the roadway and landed in a ditch.

Karumbi and a 7-year-old passenger in his vehicle were both taken to St. Lukes East Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
