News: Woman dead, 2 others injured after head-on crash in Independence

INDEPENDENCE, MO – A woman was killed and two other people were hurt in a head-on crash in the Independence area this afternoon.

According to FOX 4 KC, the crash took place near the intersection of East 39th Street and South Harbaugh Drive.

Investigators say the driver of an Oldsmobile Alero was heading west on 39th St. crossed the center line for unknown reasons and slammed into an eastbound Lexus.

The driver of the Oldsmobile was pronounced dead at the scene. Both occupants of the Lexus were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
