News: One person killed, one injured in Kansas City rear-end collision

KANSAS CITY, MO – One person was killed and another person injured in a rear-end collision on Bannister Rd near I-435 on Sunday afternoon.

A black Chevrolet Suburban was traveling west on Bannister Road at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a white Ford church van stopped at a red light near I-435 around 1:30 p.m., according to Fox4 News.

The impact caused the Chevrolet to hit a concrete median and light pole before coming to a stop in the westbound lanes of Bannister Road.

Local authorities pronounced the driver of the Chevrolet dead at the crash scene. The driver of the church van was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. No one else was in either vehicle.
