News: One killed, five injured in SB MO-7 crash in Benton County
WARSAW, MO – One person was killed and five people injured in a crash on SB MO-7 just west of Majorville Rd. on Saturday evening.
A 2014 Chrysler 200, driven by 28-year-old Ramteja Mudiyala, was traveling west on SB MO-7 and attempting to pass a vehicle on a hill, Missouri State Highway Patrol reports. At the same time, a 2002 Chevrolet 1500, driven by 31-year-old Jacob Ruggles, was traveling east on SB MO-7. Ruggles attempted to avoid the Chrysler by swerving off the right side of the road. Mudiyala also swerved off the road to avoid the Chevrolet and both vehicles collided.
Kranthi Sareddy, 24, was a passenger in the Chrysler and pronounced dead at the crash scene. He was wearing a seat belt.
Four people, including the two drivers, were airlifted to Kansas City hospitals for serious injuries. In addition to the two drivers, the other seriously injured people included a passenger in the Chrysler, 22-year-old Karumdi Harshavardhan, and a passenger in the Chevrolet, 27-year-old Kailey Ruggles. Mudiyala was the only one of the four wearing a seat belt.
Another passenger in the Chrysler sustained moderate injuries. 22-year-old Jyothi R. Dondapati was transported to Lake Regional Hospital.
