News: Child hurt in hit-and-run while celebrating 4th

KANSAS CITY, MO – A hit-and-run crash seriously injured a child on Monday night near Prospect Avenue and East 8th Street.

KCTV reports that the incident took place at approximately 11:30 p.m. when an 11-year-old was lighting fireworks with their family.

The Kansas City Police reports that the child was struck by a silver sedan. The driver fled the accident.

Responders transported the child to the hospital where they were treated for serious injuries.
