News: Red-light runner and two others hospitalized in Westport

WESTPORT, MO – Three people were hospitalized following a three-car crash on Route 88 caused by one driver’s failure to stop at a red light last Wednesday.

According to the Fall River Reporter, the crash took place close to 11:00 a.m. at the Route 88 and Briggs Road intersection.

The series of events began when the driver of a Volvo ran a red light while westbound on Briggs Road. They were then struck by a southbound Toyota while crossing Route 88.  The impact forced the Toyota to veer off and crash into a second Toyota which was waiting for the red light.

The driver of the Volvo and the driver and a passenger from the first Toyota were all transported to area hospitals. The severity of their injuries is unknown at this time.

The driver of the second Toyota declined medical care.

Westport Police issued the Volvo’s driver a citation for running the red light.
