News: Child airlifted to hospital after rollover crash in Bates County

BATES COUNTY, MO – Two people were injured, one a minor, after a crash on I-49 caused a vehicle to spin out and rollover on Thursday afternoon, MSHP reports.

The accident occurred near mile marker 123.8 at close to 4:57 p.m. when the driver of a northbound Chevrolet Silverado overcorrected after encountering an uneven portion of the roadway.

The driver, 44-year-old Loria Fones of Beebe, Arkansas, left the roadway on the left side before coming back to the road and crashing into a guardrail which forced the rollover.

A 13-year-old female in the vehicle was airlifted to Children’s Mercy for treatment of serious injuries.

Fones reportedly sustained minor injuries but did not choose to receive medical attention from responders.
