News: Runaway driver causes multiple injuries in Westport
KANSAS CITY, MO – A three-vehicle crash caused by a driver evading police resulted in hospitalization for three other people in Kansas City early Sunday morning.
Fox4 KC reports that the series of event took place close to 1:40 a.m. when police tried to pull over a Chrysler 300 which did not stop for lights or sirens.
The vehicle took several turns that eventually brought it around to driving north in the oncoming lane of Broadway.
The Chrysler ran a red light and struck a Hyundai at the Broadway Boulevard and West 39th and both vehicles then struck a Ford E450.
Police apprehended the driver of the Chrysler after they escaped the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene on foot. They were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
A passenger in the Chrysler sustained non-life-threatening injuries which were treated at a hospital.
Two of the three people in the Hyundai were hospitalized. The front seat passenger was critically wounded when they struck the windshield. The driver sustained minor injuries.
No one in the Ford was reportedly injured.
