News: Two hospitalized after collision with deer, tree in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, MO – Two people were hurt after their vehicle struck a deer in Cass County on Monday night, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to MSHP, the accident took place close to 8:25 p.m. on Route W near 317th Street when a deer entered the roadway in the path of a southbound GMC.

The vehicle, driven by 35-year-old Abby L. Burton of Garden City, hit the deer before continuing off the side of the road to crash into a tree.

Burton and one passenger, 21-year-old Anthony M. Harwood of Appleton City, were both taken to Research Medical Center. Burton was treated for serious injuries while Harwood’s injuries were described as moderate.
