News: Sleepy driver strikes two cars, one pedestrian in Shawnee

SHAWNEE, KS – A sleeping driver struck two other vehicles and a pedestrian on Tuesday in Shawnee, resulting in minor injuries to two people.

WIBW reports that the accident occurred near Interstate 35 and Shawnee Mission Parkway close to 3:10 p.m. when a Dodge Avenger struck a parked Acura TL and the driver of that vehicle before continue on to hit a Ford Transit Van.

The Avenger’s driver, 19-year-old Shawnee resident Yael L. Mera Delgado, had fallen asleep at the wheel at the time. He was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The pedestrian 29-year-old Bradle Travis Small of Kansas City, who was changing the tire of his Acura TL when he was struck, also suffered minor injuries and was treated at the hospital.

No other injuries were reported in the accident.
