News: Two hospitalized in five-vehicle wreck on US 71

KANSAS CITY MO – A multi-vehicle crash injured several people in Kansas City, according to FOX 4 KC.

The series of accidents began when a southbound semi-truck attempted to avoid a collision with a Chevrolet Tahoe and struck a Dodge Journey that became wedged in between the concrete median and the semi-trailer.

The semi continued to hit the Chevrolet and a Nissan Frontier which was then also forced to strike the center median.

A Volkswagen Jetta in the northbound lane was struck with debris that was thrown from the bed of the semi-trailer.

The driver of the Dodge was critically wounded and taken to the hospital. The driver of the Nissan was hospitalized and said to be in stable condition.
