News: Driver killed after being struck in breakdown lane of US 71

KANSAS CITY, MO – One person was killed in a hit-and-run crash on US 71 on Sunday night, reports FOX 4 KC.

The accident took place close to 10 p.m. in the area near 85th Street when the driver of a Winnebago Minnie experienced engine trouble and exited their vehicle to enter a friend’s Dodge Ram 1500 Conversion that stopped behind the Winnebago with flashing hazards.

A Chevrolet Silverado struck the back of the Dodge, the impact from the crash causing the Dodge to strike the Winnebago.

The driver of the Silverado was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Silverado fled the scene before they could be identified.
