News: Driver killed after semi blowout causes crash on I 470

KANSAS CITY, MO – A semi-truck driver from Lee’s Summit was killed on Wednesday morning after his truck suffered a tire blowout in Kansas City.

KSHB reports that the accident took place around 8:30 a.m. at the seven mile marker of Interstate 470 when the tire of a Peterbilt semi truck driven by 25-year-old Quinton M. Wilkes blew out, causing the vehicle to run off the road.

Once the truck went off the road way, it rolled over and came to rest after crashing into several trees.

Wilkes was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.
