News: Fatal crash reported on I-49 South in Peculiar

CASS COUNTY, MO – A 47-year-old man died following a crash between a dump truck and pickup truck in Peculiar Saturday. 

The collision occurred after 11:45 p.m. on I-49 South near Peculiar Drive, according to the MSHP Traffic Report Page. For reasons unknown, the driver of a 2022 Peterbilt Dump Truck crashed into a 2012 Ford F650. 

The driver of the dump truck was identified as 56-year-old Troy S Lauffer. 

Lauffer was unharmed, and it is unclear if he will face charges. 

The driver of the Ford F650 was identified as Douglas E Bentley. 

Bentley was transported to Belton Regional Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
