News: Man, 22, hospitalized after crash in Smithville
CLAY COUNTY, MO – A 22-year-old man was injured in a crash involving three cars in Smithville on Tuesday.
The collision occurred on US 169 North after 5:30 a.m, the MSHP Traffic Report revealed.
The driver of the 2016 Ford stopped on the side of the road to render aid to someone. As the driver of the 2016 Ford was helping another person, he got hit by a 2020 Ford Escape.
The driver of the Ford Escape did not slow down, which caused him to hit the driver of the 2016 Ford.
A 2014 Ford Fusion was then hit, although the driver’s identity is unclear.
The driver of the 2020 Ford Escape was identified as Stephan L Yates, 45, from Raytown. Yates was unharmed, and there is no word of pending charges.
The driver of the 2016 Ford was identified as Colby L Matthys.
Matthys sustained minor injuries and was taken to NKC Hospital.
